By the time your child reaches this group they will have already been mixing with their new peers on a part time basis. This confident and smooth transition ensures that they are ready for new experiences and broader horizons.

This is a crucial time for developing language and social skills. Fun in the mirror walled Music, dance and drama area for the two to threes will ensure that each child has the opportunity to reach their potential in these areas.

Outdoor projects, including use of the planting area, will be a focus for the children each season. This will encourage every child to gain an awareness of nature and the world around them.

The children will be given the chance to learn basic computer skills in our 'IT Suite'. We will make use of the children's educational software including puzzles, drawing and games, with the help of our Team members.

Our 'Messy Area' will be introduced for cooking and art projects. As well as the children being able to burn off some energy in our 'Sensory Play Area'. Both rooms will give the children ample chance to freely express themselves and develop new skills.

Outside, strength and physical skill will be developed with the help of a range of trikes, slides and a climbing frame. At this age the children are also encouraged to develop their social skills such as turn-taking by playing ball games etc., in the garden.

Toilet training can be time consuming and sometimes a stressful experience. At Starfish, we aim to work with the parents while helping the child to progress at their own speed. Every child is an individual and toilet training will be encouraged when the child is ready regardless of their age.

Around their third birthday, your child will be given the opportunity to visit the 3-5's room and meet the staff and children in their new group. We hope this will help make their move as gentle and effortless as possible.
